New colleague research group Lean: András Ligeti

My name is András Ligeti and I appreciate the opportunity to briefly introduce myself to you as a researcher at the HAN Lectoraat Lean / HAN Lean-QRM Centrum as of March 1st.

Background in Automotive Engineering and Design & Development
Since I have always been a technically oriented person, pursuing engineering studies at the start of my career was an obvious choice for me. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Hungary, in automotive engineering. After finishing my studies, I worked as a design & development engineer for a couple of years in the oil & gas and aerospace industries to gain hands-on experience in an industrial working environment. During this period I was designing robotic and manual tools for production considering various possibilities to indirectly improve process efficiency. At this point, I became acquainted with Lean terminology, which provided me with new perspectives on improving process efficiency and gaining a deeper understanding of process optimisation from the perspective of operations management. After a few years in the industry, I decided to pursue my master’s degree at the HAN, with the goal of learning more about Lean in the Process and Product Development elective modules.

Focus on Industrial Robotics
My primary focus at the Lectoraat will be on research projects in the field of Industrial Robotics, but I am easily captivated by any other technical subject as well. Regarding my life outside work, I’ve always tried to fill my spare time with seasonal sports activities ranging from ice skating through stand up paddleboarding to cross-country cycling trips.

Working at the HAN will be an especially exciting journey for me. Doing research on cutting-edge technologies involving my engineering background and practical skills as well as improving my soft skills through student mentoring and expanding my professional network are all highly motivating factors for me.

I’m looking forward to get to know all of you, learn from you and collaborate with you in the team.
