New Intern from Utrecht University at the Kenniscentrum Publieke Zaak

I am Sarah, a 25-year-old student from Austria. In Austria I studied Educational Sciences and now I moved to the Netherlands to broaden my knowledge on Pedagogical Sciences, and am currently studying for my Masters in Youth, Education and Society at Utrecht University.

As a part of my Master’s program, I am doing a 5-months long Internship, starting in February at the Kenniscentrum Publieke Zaak and will contribute to the work of the Family Community.

Due to my background, I am very interested in different forms of youth, but also children’s participation and involvement with their environment(s). Since especially educational aspects of upbringing catch my interest, I also worked at the BFI, the largest provider of adult education in Austria. I was part of a team that was designing and conducting education programs for going-to-be social workers and health care assistants. I devoted my Bachelor Thesis to the subject of education and the deschooling society.

I am convinced, that a community developmental approach should be strengthened in order to empower people, especially children. I will research on the role of the child in a community and will assist in preparing and conducting a workshop in Tienray, whilst elaborating on youth participation issues related to the different KRAKE projects.
