Traveling and settling down.

Hello followers,

Well after a couple of days of traveling (Amsterdam -> Reykjavik, Reykjavik -> Toronto, Toronto -> Halifax) I arrived in, you guessed it, Halifax (Halifax is a great town, if you can find the time, it’s definitely worth a visit).

After two days and one New Year’s Eve party it was time for the final part of my trip. A 3 hour bus ride to Antigonish a small town on Nova Scotia in which my University is located, StFX (Saint Francis Xavier).

I arrived at StFX with a fellow student from home and a lot of other exchange students from different parts of the world (Denmark, Germany, Finland, Zambia). After some of the trivial stuff like getting signed in at the school and getting our student IDs, it was time to get settled in into our apartment. Me, the other Dutch student and the Finnish student got an apartment together (the forth one never showed up).

The next day, after buying up half of Walmart, our empty apartment finally started looking like a home that would house us for the next 4 months.

Then, things got real. First week of school. All I can say for now is that the courses that we are taking might be a bit above our paygrade, I’m taking mostly literature courses (American, British and Canadian literature and literary criticism). But more on that later. For the time being the courses seem very interesting and the professors are very helpful.

To give you a little idea of what the town looks like I took this picture.

That’s pretty much all for now.
