Yikes, it has been two weeks already since my last post.. Quite a few things have happened. I’ve visited London, had my first sunday league football game (which resulted in a small injury but I’ll get to that later) and I had a deadline for my history course which asked for some studying.
On the Monday before London I had my writing class where we had to read our writing assignments to our classmates. I was kind of nervous to read my story to my classmates but it ended up going pretty well and I received some good feedback to further improve my writing. It was also cool to hear what other people came up with. The day ended with my curriculum frameworks class which was, unfortunately, not very interesting.
On Tuesday I had to wake up early to get to Derby station as the train would leave at 9 A.M. and I needed to be there at 8.30 A.M. to collect my ticket. The train ride was okay. The train seats here have an extended headrest which makes sleeping less of a hassle. We got to London in about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
First we had to take two tubes to the book fair which was being held in this massive building called the Olympia hall. Once we got inside we were greeted by two stories of publisher stands, without a doubt there were more then 500 publishers here. Unfortunately is was quite a formal event as these people are here to make sales. I had a few chats but nothing noteworthy. We left after an hour and a half. A few mates and I decided to go a pub and have some lunch. We were met with a downpour, which resulted in us getting soaked and having to dry up at the pub.
After pubbing we took a tube towards the Natural History Musuem to do some sightseeing. This musuem is big and there are a lot of cool things to see!

After the musuem we visited the Harry Potter store at King’s Cross station, most famously known for the actual platform 9 3/4. Obviously there was a long line in front of people who wanted to take a picture. After this we had to take the train back. The journey back home went smoothly.
Up until Sunday the week was pretty uneventful, studying, going to the gym, football practice and groceries.
On Sunday, however, I had my first football match in a long time. For those of you who didn’t knew, I was a goalie for 8 years and since I joined the team it has been fun to play in goals. The match was at 10:30 A.M. so I had to rise early. The match went pretty well, we won 7-3. But I mentioned something about a minor injury didn’t I? If you don’t know Sunday league football, google it. It is brutal. Very brutal. I got into a collision with a player while I rushed the ball and grabbed it. The lad hit my knee and I immediately had to come off the field. At first the knee was fine, but I wasn’t able to walk on it the Monday after, so I had to miss school.
I had a deadline on Thursday for my history course. I needed to make a poster about Indochina and specifically focused on important wars. It was difficult to find pictures that conveyed the meaning I wanted, but in the end I managed.
The Friday was spent on going to a Magic the Gathering event with Willem, one of the Dutch classmates that came along with me to Derby. This was very fun!
I have another match on Sunday, so I’ll keep you posted. (Hope I don’t lose my legs..) I’ll write another update in about a week! (or 2..)
