Meeting new people while being an introvert 🙀

Lizeth Munoz, 3e-jaarsstudente Leraar Engels.

Orientation week started today and I am so excited. We got our student cards which means we are officially students in Australia and can get discounts everywhere. Is this what they meant when they said that your student years are the best years of your life?

It is 11:45 pm and my health app says that I’ve walked 11,1 km today. Since orientation week started I have realized how much I underestimated moving to another country and having to make friends again. It’s definitely not as bad as when I moved to the Netherlands four years ago but in my mind I was a pro at this. Well professional is not the correct word but experience. I thought that because I had experienced this once before it wouldn’t be so difficult. Man, was I wrong. I forgot how awkward it can be when it comes to meeting new people. I get in my head and think about every single thing I might be doing or might do wrong. Isn’t that crazy 🤷🏽‍♀️. Some things I have realized help me is to remind myself that most of these people are feeling the same way and we’re all in the same boat. Going back to O-week. Our week is filled with fun activities that I’m really excited for. So you’ll probably hear from me again after this week because it is going to be really hectic. Until then 👋
