Substantial impulse for hydrogen innovation education
The award of a SPRONG subsidy of €1 million for the next 4 years will give hydrogen research and education in the East of the Netherlands a major boost. The HAN and Saxion will form a research group with this subsidy.
This research group must develop into a leading knowledge centre for companies and institutions that want to realise decentralised hydrogen applications.
Thanks to the cooperation of various partners from the business world, this research group is expected to become a significant player not only in the Netherlands, but even at a European level, when it comes to the application of sustainable hydrogen.
HAN-lecturer Bram Veenhuizen is delighted: “The greening of electrical energy generation and storage and of mobility can be given a boost by the application of hydrogen. With the SPRONG grant we are going to investigate these applications of hydrogen, in cooperation with regional companies and authorities. With Saxion as a partner, we have more power to support companies in their product development and at the same time train students with the latest insights from practice.”
His colleague lector Richard van Leeuwen of Saxion University of Applied Sciences adds: “For many companies in the eastern Netherlands, the transition to hydrogen as an energy carrier represents an important development. With the SPRONG subsidy, we can now give learning and innovation in the field of hydrogen generation, storage and application a boost together with the companies.”
With Saxion as a partner, we have more clout to support companies in their product development and at the same time train students with the latest insights from the field.
