On Tuesday 4 July, the ACE Student Award 2023 took place. From HAN Automotive, 2 students were nominated, from Fontys 3 students. And the honour went to Fontys this year!

The HAN Automotive nominees (including graduation company and graduation research title):

They were up against 3 Fontys Automotive students….

Who won?

In the end, the expert jury chose the graduation project of Fontys student Obaydah Alali. He won an amazing F1 trip to a Grand Prix for 2 people within Europe! A nice touch, then, if you are an Automotive student graduating with an ACE partner and are nominated for this Student Award.

Obaydah’s winning project was about the second life of EV lithium-ion batteries for EDAG Group. The jury found this the most innovative, sustainable and applicable project among all the nominees.

Why the ACE Student Award?

The ACE Student Award was created to make knowledge and innovation in automotive companies visible. The ACE Partner companies currently have the opportunity to each nominate 1 graduate who has a chance of winning the ACE Student Award and a 3 or 4-day F1 trip to a GP for 2 persons within Europe. An expert jury will ultimately appoint the winner of the ACE Student Award.

Besides the announcement of the winner of the ACE Student Award, several student teams of our own HAN teams and those of Fontys were also present. They shared all the ins & outs about their vehicle or object.
