Results of the National Student Survey: HAN students very satisfied

HAN students are very satisfied with the atmosphere at their study programme and the appreciation for study guidance is increasing. This is evident from the results of the National Student Survey (NSS), edition 2022.

Many HAN scores are comparable to the national average in higher education and to last year’s university results. Satisfaction with the programme in general is also constant, both at HAN and in higher education. The combination of digital and physical education has not led to a decrease in satisfaction, according to the press release of Studiekeuze123.

What is striking is the high level of satisfaction with the atmosphere of the HAN programmes (4.10 on a scale of 1-5). In light of hybrid education, this is a result that HAN is very proud of. HAN students are also increasingly satisfied with the possibilities for study support. A valuable gain, in the face of the consequences of lock-down.

The questionnaire on the subject of testing and assessment shows a slight decline in satisfaction compared to last year.

Flexibility of the programme

New is the specific question about the flexibility of the study programme. The score is on the low side. HAN University of Applied Sciences considers more flexible education very important and has chosen this as one of the strategic goals in its long-term policy plan. Through this flexible future-oriented education, the development of students is central and the university educates them to become agile and reflective professionals.

Not only is the appreciation for the study guidance and the atmosphere at the study programmes increasing, but also the study facilities and the connection with the professional practice are subjects where the satisfaction of the students is increasing.

Response

The response from HAN students was excellent. Hybrid education was not a problem. Almost 40% of all students completed the survey questions, a remarkable score for a broad-based university of applied sciences such as the HAN. Nationally, 33.5% of all students participated in the NSE 2022. The HAN is pleased with this high level of participation. The organisation raffled off various prizes among the participants. 21 HAN students won such a prize.

What happens to the results?

We discuss the survey results and use them to improve our programmes. The results are used nationwide on Studiekeuze123, where students can compare degree programmes. The student opinions also form the basis for the annual ‘Keuzegids’ and the education special published by the weekly magazine ‘Elsevier’.
