Regterschot Racing proud to recognize achievements of Automotive Engineering students
Erik Regterschot, manager of Student team Regterschot Racing, is proud to recognize the achievements of Automotive Engineering students Mick van der Vloet, Mika Tuijp, and Olle Gerard Sonneveld, who served as interns on the student team for the past 5 months.
They made invaluable contributions, not only by designing parts for the race car, but also by supporting other 11 students and working on the vehicle itself. Erik: “We never expected to grow this fast and big!”
Mick tackled the vehicle electronics, choosing an engine management system, designing the wiring harness, and preparing the data-log system with sensors and datasets. He will continue as the Head of Vehicle Electronics in the race team.
Mika was responsible for creating the roll cage of the race car, ensuring it met FIA regulations. He also designed a testing setup to measure the car’s torsional stiffness, allowing the team to determine the impact of any changes to the chassis or new parts.
Olle designed new, highly stiff wishbones for the rear of the car, and also added adjustability for better handling. The team is excited to begin production and testing of these wishbones to make them road legal.
A special thanks to VIRO Arnhem. Their support has brought Regterschot Racing closer to their goal of hitting the track with a zero emission race car.
New students part of the team
Meanwhile new Automotive students started their S6 Project at Regterschot Racing. Like Max Bolk who will have his focus on the vehicle dynamics off the car. His main task will be modeling a vehicle with the different powertrain concepts. But of course there are many more students participating this time around!
Upcoming semester Regterschot Racing will start with more than 35 students from 5 different courses! The main topics that we will work on are:
- Data-log system
- Research zero-emission race car
- Development current race car
Erik: “We are looking at the future with many expectations and the desire to work hard using every resource that is at our disposal. We have a common passion and dream: racing and developing our own car. We want to bring innovation and a fresh breath of air to this field.”
