One way to keep myself accountable
Hey, this is Angelos again! I hope you are good!
In my life, l had moments that l was trying to achieve something but, it was taking me so much time. Everyone has 24h in a day so, why some people achieve more than others?
We all know the answer, they manage their time better, right? OK, so, how?
There are people they just doing it. Others overthink or put other people’s needs above theirs and the list is huge.
So, to help myself, l had to come up with a tool to help me understand where my 86400 seconds per day of my ‘’time bank account’’ goes.
And the idea was simple.
I open an excel file with the following heads:
Date | Day | Uni Studying Hours | Non-uni Studing | Making money |
Meet People | Brake/Holidays | Waste |
I write only the really productive hours relative to my goals. The rest is waste. I am very strict on that. Only the hours that produce results.
- I am doing this almost 2 years now and it works well.
- In the beginning it was hard but, l got used to it.
- It is very difficult to keep concentrate 100%.
Also, l compare my results from period to period. For example, last year and this year l spent the same time for university of applied sciences everyday. But, this year was way more productive than l expected. The difference was that l had a better view where l was focusing on during the day and also, l did not forget to take breaks!
Also, l achieved to be more stable on my productive hours and eliminate the fluctuations! This was obvious by inserting the data into a graph.
Every week l take the average of hours of every category and l try to increase what is more relevant to my goals. It is like a report to myself and next week l challenge myself to improve it.
Yeah, l understand might be boring. But, now l can’t live without it.
Besides, this year l updated my list further. I added how many days are left until the end of the year, as well as, how many hours.
Days left | Hours left |
Guess what! We are not here for a long time. So, make this world better than we found it!
Wish you a productive day! See you later!
