New and improved MORE vehicle unveiled | More on the collaborations

The new and improved MORE vehicle was officially unveiled on Friday 20 May! At the unveiling, we took our first steps towards autonomous driving. That is why we posted this on our Instagram page: the moment when the curtain was taken off the car!

In this blog we will also tell you what MORE does with other education and how we connect with students and scholars in different courses and levels.

What is the purpose of MORE?

Did you know that the main objective of MORE (Modular Research) vehicle is to realize the triangle between industry, education and research? In this way, the engineers of tomorrow are educated. The vehicle we are working on as students is a means to this end.

However, there is a lot involved in achieving this goal. You only notice that when you are part of the team. From contacts with mbo’s and secondary schools to setting up projects with companies.

How did MORE start?

MORE began as an Automotive Engineering Bachelor’s project. In the meantime, we have become much more than that within the hbo. We soon expanded into the mechanical engineering programme of the HAN and this programme is now also a major part of MORE.

How is the distribution in semesters?

In total, we are now active in the bachelor’s programme in semester 3 and 6 of Mechanical Engineering and in semester 5, 6 and 8 of Automotive. In addition, we are also active in a large part of the master track of Automotive Systems (part of the master track Engineering Systems). But that’s not all, there are also plans to use MORE in practicals and the like in the first semesters of Automotive. In this way, we hope to become an academy-wide project!

Why does MORE invest in secondary schools and vocational schools?

At MORE, we believe that the ‘engineer of tomorrow’ starts much earlier than at the hbo. This is why we at MORE invest more and more in secondary schools and vocational schools. We already have a partnership with REA College, an MBO that trains certified welders. The REA College has already produced a front frame and a rear frame for MORE.

In addition, we now have our first cooperation with a secondary school. An enthusiastic student, who had some spare time because of a flexible school schedule, contacted the HAN whether she could already do a preparatory assignment for her future study Automotive. We at MORE were naturally very enthusiastic about this and she is now developing a front bumper for the vehicle.

All in all, there are quite a few connections at MORE, but we always strive for more. We are now working on a possible cooperation with Technasium at secondary schools and internships at MORE for the MBO.
