MORE team reaches Oberalp Pas during 24H2 Challenge
Our HAN MORE team (HAN Modular Research Vehicle with students and lecturers Automotive Engineering) achieved its main goal during its participation in the 24H2 Challenge on 11 and 12 November: reaching the top of Switzerland’s Oberalp Pass. The mountain is at an altitude of 2,046 metres. A beautiful and special adventure in which the southernmost point was also achieved and the most number of kilometres driven, namely 2,057 km!
By participating in this hydrogen challenge, Team MORE demonstrated that driving the Oberalp Pass at high altitude is also possible with a hydrogen car. Furthermore, the Rhine rises near this Swiss mountain. The NederRijn, a branch of the Rhine, flows through Arnhem. As a result, the hydrogen car was symbolically reconnected to the participants’ home city via the Rhine water.
Along the way, visibility was poor due to fog until the team arrived at the Oberalp Pass. Fortunately, the fog gave way to clear skies and high mountains with snow-covered peaks. It was well worth the long drive to the Oberalp Pass!
MORE thanks Tripsolute who made this participation possible and to Herwers whose Hyundai Nexo could be borrowed for this wonderful adventure!
