Jorg’s adventure in South Africa to complete minor in Global Awareness
Jorg Verhagen’s adventure in South Africa has come to an end. The student Industrial Design Engineering chose to pursue an additional minor abroad after completing his graduation internship at 3D Sierra Leone, where he created prosthetics for clients who had above-the-knee amputations.
Jorg: “In South Africa for the past half-year, I completed a minor in Global Awareness. I worked on a variety of initiatives during my stay in the tiny community of Genadendal. I worked with Mind over Matter, a daycare for people with disabilities. Together with some of the clients, we created new products that could be made. I also focused on structuring the organization Marshall Rinquest and I collaborated on a project. Together, we worked on a variety of projects, including the creation of an outdoor classroom for the local high school.”
For Jorg, his experience in South Africa was wonderful. “Living in a different country and experiencing cultural differences taught me a lot. This interim period was the ideal approach for me to close off my course Industrial Design Engineering.”
