How does the Billie Cup work?
HAN School of Engineering and Automotive at Ruitenberglaan 29 has been pitcher-free for just over a week with the Billie Cup. We hear positive reactions to this sustainable initiative. We also notice that there are still questions.
How does it work?
- Step 1. For €1 you get a Billie Cup from the vending machine on the 1st floor
- Step 2. Use the Billie Cup as often as you like for your favourite coffee or tea
- Step 3. If necessary, rinse your Billie Cup at the designated washing-up points.
- Step 4. Exchange the Billie Cup for a clean cup at a restaurant or coffee café at no extra cost or receive a Billie coin
- Step 5. With the Billie token, you can get a new cup next time or get €1 discount on your next purchase at the restaurant or coffee café or any other Billie Cup location.
Why the Billie Cup?
Ruitenberglaan 29 is the second education building to be made disposable cup-free. In this, we are an example for other HAN locations, but also for organisations outside HAN.
Because sustainable disposable materials cannot go with the VGF waste, because they have a longer composting time than a core of a bell or a slice of bread. These then still end up in the residual waste. Striving for zero waste is therefore still the best choice, and the Billie Cup is a nice step in that direction.
