Home Coming Event: students share their experiences abroad

The Home Coming Event welcomed Engineering and Automotive students who did a minor or internship abroad this past semester. Students who still want to go abroad were also welcome on Thursday afternoon, 26 January, to hear about other students’ experiences.

The afternoon started with a welcome by lecturer Katja de Grijff. Hanna Aknouche-Martinsson, associate lecturer at University West in Sweden then explained the opportunities available at her university via an online connection.

Afterwards, a number of students (also a few online) gave presentations to share their wonderful experiences abroad and you could ask questions. The Home Coming Event ended with a social drink.

The event started with presentations by:

  • Jens Tschopp, Industrial Engineering Management student, with internship at a chocolate factory in Switzerland

Jens conducted a study on Läderach AG’s FrischSchoggi. The study revealed several solutions that could make the FrischSchoggi even more environmentally friendly.

Jens: “I was able to learn many things about the food industry and environmentally friendly packaging. I was also able to develop myself both professionally and personally and got an insight into many different departments of one of the best chocolatiers in the world.”

Jens thanks Bernhard Ruoss from Läderach for his guidance. “I could always contact him and spar about new ideas and solutions in a nice way. I would also like to thank Pieter Ravensbergen from the University of Applied Sciences for online guidance during my research. Even though you were at a distance, he was able to support me in a fine way where necessary.”

Next, a presentation by:

  • Faye Hermans, Industrial Design Engineering student, with a minor abroad in Ireland

However, we highlight a few presentations from:

  • Udbhav Goyal, Automotive student, with internship at Red Bull in UK
  • Neil Ponsonnard, Automotive student, with internship at Ford in Belgium
  • Noud Salimans, Electrical engineering student, with minor abroad in the United States
