Gravity Racer still out of the starting blocks: which vehicles participated?

The Gravity Racer, which was postponed due to corona measures, took place on Wednesday 26 January on the parking deck of Ruitenberglaan 29. Without a spectator, but that did not spoil the fun!

Gravity Racer is a popular 2nd-year project at Automotive Engineering. Students design and build a vehicle that drives down a ramp to get as far as possible. It is a fun and educational project that students work on with great enthusiasm.

Student Jay Kosters made a nice and short impression of the race for his 40-hour activity:

Which vehicles participated?

We photographed a selection of the vehicles that gave an acte de presence:

What requirements does the vehicle have to meet?

Lecturer Arthur Appelman: “The vehicle has to be built according to our own design. All parts must therefore first be very well calculated and drawn by the students.

How is the student team assessed in this project?

“The assessment is mainly based on the design and its implementation in the building process. Of course, the (growth in) professionalism and cooperation within the team also counts.”

How did this race actually come about?

“The race is derived from the well-known Red Bull Gravity race in which numerous professional teams participate.”
