Exams School of Engineering and Automotive: registration and participation

Are you a student at HAN School of Engineering and Automotive? Please pay attention to the information below, regarding registration and participation in an exam.

The information below can also be found on HAN Insite at ‘Your Program’ under ‘Exams and Board of Examiners’. There you will also find answers to frequently asked questions.

Examination and Code of Conduct*: there are 10 of them!

  1. Signing up for an exam is required. Every student signs himself/herself up for an exam during the registration period.
  2. Come on time! You do not have immediate access to the examination room after the start of the examination. You may still enter the examination room 30 minutes after the start of the examination for the remaining duration of the examination.
  3. Based on your registration(s) for a (partial) exam, you will be assigned to a room by the Examination Office and you will receive a confirmation e-mail.
  4. In OSIRIS you can see for which exams you are registered. With the introduction of OSIRIS, you will no longer receive a confirmation e-mail from the Examination Bureau. However, you can check in OSIRIS 6 working days before the start of an exam what you have been registered for.
  5. You can find the examination schedule per examination period in your timetable. If you need extra time and/or extra facilities during the exams, you can contact your Senior Study Career Counsellor.
  6. Mobile phones must be switched off and in your bag during an exam. Touching a mobile phone during an exam is considered fraud. You are also not allowed to wear a watch during the written examination and all your belongings (jacket, bag, phone, etc.) are to be placed in the place designated by the invigilator.
  7. You always follow the invigilator’s instructions.
  8. You may not leave the exam room until 30 minutes after the start of the exam.
  9. Write your name, student number and class on all pages of both the examination paper and the answer sheet/project paper (you can find your class in Alluris under ‘My Details’). The scrap paper you may use is for your own use only. Return it to the invigilator afterwards. The examiner will not receive this scrap paper.
  10. At the start of an examination, you must present a valid student card or identification document to the invigilator for identification purposes:
    – a passport
    – a European identity card
    – a Dutch driving licence
    – a Dutch foreigner’s document

These are the valid student cards at the start of an examination:

If you cannot show a college card or a valid identification document, you will be excluded from exam participation. If you cannot show proof of identity due to, for example, theft or loss of the identification document and the student card, you can only request a ‘Proof of Registration’ from the Question Point at Ruitenberglaan 26 with an original declaration of theft and/or an original request for a new identity document from the municipality, so that you can be admitted to the examination location.

* The above code of conduct also apply to a resit

Exam times and rooms

The exam times and rooms can be found in the timetable on HAN Insite – Timetables. You will receive a confirmation e-mail from the Examination Office one week before the examination period. This will state which room you have been assigned to.

Exam Enrolment

To participate in an exam, you must register in OSIRIS. This is only possible during the registration period, after this period is closed you can no longer register for participation.

ATTENTION: Make sure you finish your registration with the “save” button.

This regularly appears to be forgotten by students. If you don’t save your registration, you are not registered. It is therefore very important to check your registration in OSIRIS during the registration period. With the introduction of OSIRIS, you will no longer receive a confirmation e-mail from the Examination Bureau. However, you can check in OSIRIS 6 working days before the start of an exam what you have been registered for.

Submitting an exemption request

If you wish to apply for an exemption, you can do so by submitting a request to the Examination Board. If you want to know more about this, please mail your quenstion to tentamenbureau.aea@han.nl.

Extra facilities for written exams

Taking a written exam is more challenging for some people than for others. For example, because you have a disability. If there are special circumstances, you may be eligible for extra facilities during your examination. You can apply for these until week 3 of each examination period. For more information, visit this page on HAN Insite!

Handin: digital hand-in

Handin is an application for digital submission and assessment of summative tests (test products for which students receive direct or indirect credits). Both individual and group products can be submitted via Handin. The assessor sees products in a clear overview and can complete a digital assessment form in the application. Plagiarism control is integrated and assessment with multiple assessors is possible.

Do you want to resit?

The curriculum overview in your Program’s Charter specifies which exams are taken and when. You can take the same exam or partial exam twice a year. The highest grade obtained applies.

If the program changes, Chapter 8 of the program statute describes how you can still pass the (partial) examinations you have not yet passed. The most up-to-date information on resit options can be found in the Education and Examination Regulations (EER) of your program.
