Automotive Engineering student’s dream at Red Bull F1 Racing & Technology shows off!
What a great way to start off Udbhav Goyal‘s first day at work with Red Bull Racing & Technology right after their spectacular win at the Dutch Grand Prix! Udbhav is an Automotive Engineering student who started there for his internship from the 5th of September, for which he had to move all the way to Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom.
“Interestingly work for me started the day after Max Verstappen won the Dutch GP. On the first day of joining, I got to click a picture with the trophy he received and also get to see the team principal, Christian Horner. A lovely first day I would say!”
Wauw, and what role has Redbull chosen you for?
“I will be working in the performance and simulation department. The focus is more on the dynamics and handing of a vehicle. There are a few specific cars that I will be working on, some from the past and the future one too.”
What is it that you’ll specifically do for your assignment?
“The idea is to get familiarized with a few inhouse softwares of the company and across Formula 1 used for performance analysis and creating and optimizing simulations. Once that is done, I will be developing a model for a few different types of simulator that the company has. This should help to bridge the gap between the real-life vehicle behavior and the behavior in the various sims.”
How has the experience been so far?
“It has been a mix of a lot of emotions and a lot of things to take care of, in terms of moving to a different country and working with undoubtedly the most talented people in the industry. But already in the first week or so, I have learnt so much from the very helping and supporting colleagues around me. A lot of emphasis has been put onto getting used to the softwares and playing around with testing data has happened so far.”
Looking forward, what is your plan?
“Well, my plan is to just keep pushing, learning and contributing to the company as much as possible. My interest and will to grow in the field of motorsports and vehicle dynamics is on it’s peak And of course, to bring the championship home and celebrate with everyone once that happens!”
Udbhav would like to thank the internship committee and a few teachers at the HAN, who have helped him to make this happen. Specially, during the summer break when everyone was away. “And also my family, close friends from HAN and mentors for their endless support!”
