Angelos’ introduction: A taste from the past & one way ticket to Holland

Angelos ChatziangelidisHello everyoneee! My name is Angelos Chatziangelidis (yeah l have difficult surname :P), 23 years old and I come from a small town from North part of Greece named Orestiada. I am 2nd year Automotive Engineering student with Powertrain and Business Management specialisations.

When l was kid, l made a lot of cars in scale from plasteline. Most of them did not survive till now cause l was crashing them and made again new ones (recycling, it was a sustainable business :D). Some of them l sold them to my relatives. My last and favourite one was this Mazda Rx7 FD (l love doritos), and yeah, was inspired by Fast & Furious movies as crazy – and some times ugly – body modifications was a trend back then.

I started university a bit late. This is because after high school l was planning to finish my military obligations first. However, the way of selection had just changed and l had to wait more time to invite me.

In the meanwhile, l went to live in Athens for almost a year. l attended many seminars about marketing, sales and l was researching the car dealerships market there.

Finally, after 8 months waiting, the letter from the Greek Military arrived! I served 8 months from March till November 2018. I made a lot of friends there, adventures experiences in the mountains at midnights, many extra free days from my commander, brevet and military exercises with real armour. It was fun!

Here is a video from the exercise if you are interested:

Then, l decided to study abroad to gain different experiences and meet other cultures. l started preparing my English to pass the IELTS, while l was working to my father’s garage.

I had couple of offers from universities so, l took into consideration the country as well. l decided that Holland applies better to my future goals. So, l chose HAN University of Applied Sciences.

In the meanwhile, l had my IELTS results in July 2019 and l had to start university in the end of August. I couldn’t find accommodation, l had to prepare myself, say goodbye to my friends etc..

In the past l was a little bit afraid to take larger risks and step out a lot of my comfort zone. So, l wasn’t so sure if l made the right choice (and you are never sure). But, l said l will try. If l like it, l will stay. So, l booked one way ticket and here l am! That means alles goed so far, except for online education in corona era. But, that’s a topic for another time. See you!
