Students make their own wind turbine
Mechanical Engineering students in the 1st year have recently built and presented their own wind turbines (windmills to scale). They were allowed to take these home.
With sketches of the 3D models, a 2D drawing can be worked out, so that a part (for example, a flange) can be made by the 1st-year students in the workshop. On such a drawing you indicate all dimensions, tolerances and the material it is made of. If you do not do this, it may happen that the part does not fit on another part. In addition, a 2D composition drawing was made of the whole, so that it is clear to the builder how he has to put it together.
The students assembled their own parts for the wind turbine. Then all the structures were successfully tested! With this project, the students also further developed their professional, practical and design skills.
