Mick’s role in one of the student teams
Hi everyone, after two months I am back with another blog post. In my last post I stated that I would be discussing the different teams, I will be glossing over the options but most importantly I am going to discuss what happened in the last few months regarding covid in the Netherlands.
In the second year of the Automotive Engineering degree course you have projects just like the year before. These are the Gravity Racer for semester 3 and the Eco Runner for semester 4. As an alternative for these, you can sign up for a student team. This years’ teams are HAN Formula Student (HFS), Hydromotive and HAN 4L.
I am part of HFS myself, and my roles are driveline engineer and junior chief driveline. I joined the team because I wanted to make sure I was working with motivated people this year. From my experience I can say that this tactic worked out well and I am enjoying my time at HFS a lot, even though it is hard work. I won’t bore you with all the details regarding the teams, but if you are interested do not hesitate to visit the websites of the teams.
The last couple of months have been a bit hectic as the renewed covid rules are back in force. This resulted in a weeks’ school closure. This was a huge disappointment for me, since it was the last week of the semester. Therefore my motivation for school was completely gone. Sitting behind my laptop again to follow classes was awful and to be honest, I did not even attend a single class. I would start up my laptop, join the teams meeting and go watch a movie after 5 minutes. I cannot imagine how this must have been for the teachers. Fortunately, the schools reopened which definitely helps my work ethic a lot.
In the meantime, I hope schools will stay open, and I will give you an update on how I am doing in my next post.
