The story of Max: filled with motorsports

Last October Automotive student Max Bolk had a month filled with motorsports. He tells you about it!

“Starting off with the Mazda MX5 cup with Tachyon Motorsport, where we had two races with one week in between. A crash of one of the Mazda’s in Spa meant there was a lot of work between the races to get all the cars ready to race again in Assen. The team was rewarded in Assen with a win of Timo and an overall good weekend for the team. At Tachyon I helped out the mechanics and was responsible for the tyre management during the events and data management when back in the workshop.”

Chief race engineer

“While I was busy at Tachyon the preparations for the DNRT 24H with Regterschot Racing was in full swing. All the time I could spare, I was helping out with event preparations and setup for the BMW E46. My role during the weekend was chief race engineer. This meant I was responsible for setup, strategy and driver communications. The weekend started off great with no trouble with the car until it crashed in Assen. With a great effort from the mechanics, we still managed to start again in Zandvoort the next day. Because of the crash, my job of managing the race transferred to managing people and other small bits, so the mechanics could do their job.”

MotorSport World Expo

“Just a few days after the 24H I also attended the Professional MotorSport World Expo, where I talked to a lot of innovative companies and refreshed my knowledge on what nice products are available for us. Overall this month was one of the best experiences yet in racing and I hope that there will be many more of these motorsport filled months. I want to thank everybody that was involved in giving me this amazing experience!”
