Managing Director at QING: “Technology is one of the drivers of change”
Bram de Vrught, Managing Director at QING, was one of the fascinating speakers at the Powerhouse of Innovation symposium on 20 June. Anastasia Gnusina, graduated from HAN Mechanical Engineering, was the second speaker. What interesting stories did they have for the students Engineering and Automotive?
Bram: “It was a pleasure to have a talk at this symposium. Hundreds of students presented their innovative projects that they have worked on the 6th semester. I realized that is has been 16 years since my graduation at HAN Automotive Engineering. When I look back these years, a lot has changed. Obviously… changes occur faster and faster. Technology is one of the drivers of change.”
Bram believes that the new generation of engineers need to embrace change, lead the way, help and involve the people around them. Life is like a agile project. So he was thinking about the similarities between an agile approach for innovation and life. Bram asked ChatGPT and it came up with this interesting answer:
Agile* project management and life share similarities in adaptability, continuous improvement, flexibility, collaboration, goal orientation, time management, and embracing uncertainty. Both require the ability to adjust, learn, collaborate, and navigate changing circumstances to achieve success and growth.
* an agile project is an iterative approach to managing software development projects that focuses on continuous releases and incorporating customer feedback with every iteration

Young female international engineer
The second speaker at the Powerhouse of Innovation symposium was Anastasia Gnusina. She graduated from HAN Mechanical Engineering last year and told the students how she likes her work at Mammoet, her current employer.
In her story, Anastasia also talked about what it is like to start out as a young female international engineer in a rather conventional masculine engineering world. Her advice actually applies to everyone. While working, talk to people, build your network and ask questions. That way, you make yourself visible and people will start to take you into account.
