New rules for long term parking and tinkering with cars

Have you noticed? Lately, a lot of (tinker) cars are left behind for a long time in the car park behind our education building at Ruitenberglaan 29. This is not desirable from a safety and liability point of view.

What is allowed?

Students have the possibility (albeit limited) to work on their own cars in the workshop space (with bridge) of R29. This is always done in consultation with staff members Tommy Franssen and Appie Peters. Students who are a member of one of the Automotive Engineering student teams may also work on their own car in the rooms of the student team concerned. These are the possibilities our academy offers.

So what is the problem?

The use of parking spaces for (craft) cars that remain there for long periods of time unfortunately comes at the expense of the availability for other students and staff members. It was therefore decided to take action.

What action has been taken?

The HAN management organisation has drawn up a letter, which the HAN Arnhem supervisor has stuck on the parked vehicles for a long time. The letters state that the owner/holder has 6 weeks to remove the vehicle from the HAN premises. After 6 weeks, the vehicle will be towed away and the costs will be recovered from the owner/holder.

HAN’s parking policy will be adjusted soon and a request has been submitted to the Housing department to adjust the signage with regard to parking regulations. This has been submitted to the Executive Board for approval.

What do you notice as a student?

It has been agreed that the supervisors of the grounds, the employees of the workshops and the facilities employees will actively enforce the rules in the near future. It is possible that you will be addressed in class or during guidance, or that attention will be drawn to it if students do not keep to the agreements.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
