3rd place for HAN project SPARC at Cleantech Battle

On Thursday afternoon 16 June, the 9th edition of the Cleantech Battle featured a huge diversity of sustainability and clean technology. On this final day, innovative ideas were pitched by 6 student teams from the eastern Netherlands. And no fewer than two finalists from the HAN took the stage!

Student Henry Kozorezov of Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences won this Cleantech Battle with a concrete solution to the nitrogen problem. And a wonderful 3rd place for the HAN students of the semester 6 project SPARC. They won € 500 with it!

Inner-city mobility

SPARC is about improving inner-city mobility. This project investigates the possibility of transporting people and products by means of electric vehicles. Something that is very beneficial to the environment.

A multidisciplinary project with students Automotive, Industrial Engineering and Management, Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Design, under the coaching leadership of lecturers Koen Lau and Sjoerd Timmermans. Congratulations on your well-deserved bronze place!

Circular sound wall

The other nomination on behalf of the HAN was a circular sound wall. This is not new, as this project already won the Cleantech Battle last year. However, it has been further developed under the name Infrawall 2.0. With a new group of 3rd-year Industrial Product Design and Mechanical Engineering students under the coaching leadership of teacher Ben Cox, the Infrawall has been greatly improved. No prize this time, but a proud nomination!

Solution for nitrogen problem

Student Henry Kozorezov won the Cleantech Battle with his project AEMS, a concrete solution to the nitrogen problem. By separating animal faeces, less ammonia, and therefore nitrogen, is released. Besides the title, Henry went home with an amount of € 1,500. “I am very happy! With my project, I want to help farmers by letting them be part of the solution, instead of the problem!”

The 2nd prize was for Saxion student Yohannes Desta who wants to reduce the use of fossil fuels by means of a flywheel. This idea was rewarded with € 1,000.
